It’s a late start for us this week (are we the only ones who hate Mondays?) but this doesn’t mean we forgot about today’s visual optical illusion. And we have something really cool set in store for you today. As you guessed from the title, we’re talking about a really nice floating cube visual optical illusion, kind of like the ones found in magic shows. Truth be told, when we first watched this visual illusion we said “oh, so that’s how it’s done!”
What to see?
Simply watch the gif, and you’ll see a person holding a white board, with a cube that floats on top of it. That’s all there is to see, but, the effect is truly amazing. We could say that it’s too bad to see how this illusion words in the last seconds of the gif… But, the good thing is that being a gif image, the visual illusion starts all over again, and you can enjoy it again and again.
We have to say that it was really mind blowing seeing how this illusion works, especially because it explains a bunch of similar magic tricks – so now we were thinking of getting into magic shows. What do you think? Should we do it?
How it works?
Well, besides the fact that the last second of the gif shows you how this visual optical illusion works, what else could we say? Seems like it isn’t all about smoke and mirrors, but about knowing how the laws of perception work, and how to manipulate them to make a person think that the cube actually floats and that it’s real…So, what can we learn from this? That 90% of magic tricks aren’t magic, that they’re not either “smoke and mirrors” but applied science!
